Why I teach Hindi
Hey, I'm Anshuja
For many years I lived away from home — in Indonesia, Japan and Sweden, and in a non-Hindi-speaking part of India. I wanted more than getting by. I wanted to understand the people around me, their festivals and their stories. But without the words, even a simple thank-you could make me hesitate.
Back in Gurgaon, buying vegetables with my mum, I noticed a woman at the counter pause as if she wanted to say something — perhaps a thank-you — before she smiled politely and walked away. I'll never know what she wanted to say. But I recognised that pause.
So I posted a Meetup for expats who wanted to practise speaking Hindi. One Japanese woman came. That's where this began. Today I help people speak Hindi with the people who matter to them.

Questions, answered
I work full-time. Will I have time?
Yes. Lessons are 5–8 minutes and fully self-paced. Ten minutes a day is enough to make progress.
I've tried apps and courses before. How is this different?
Apps teach words. The Jumpstarter is built for speaking with people — you Discover what you need, Decode how it works, then Speak, with a GPT coach and live practice in the community.
I live outside India. Is this for me?
Yes. If you want to speak with Hindi-speaking family or reconnect with your roots, the course and the live sessions are fully online.
Do I need to read Devanagari?
No. Everything is in English letters so you can start speaking straight away.
I learned Hindi grammar at school. Is this too basic?
If the grammar is in your head but won't come out of your mouth, this is built for exactly that gap.
Is this 1:1 coaching with Anshuja?
No — it's a self-paced course with group live practice in the community. Personal 1:1 coaching is available separately.
What if I freeze or make mistakes?
